Dennis Ward

Screenwriter: Scenarists or script writers are authors who write the screenplays from which films and television programs are made.

Why is your film called Bamboo Shark? I was at the Baltimore Aquarium and I was daydreaming about this new script idea I had.   Well as I came to the exit it dawned on me that I hadn’t paid any attention to the exhibits.  This really bothered me, so as we walked past the final exhibit, I made a point to stop and really take it in.  The final exhibit was an aquarium full of Bamboo Sharks.

So, how over budget are you? Almost a million dollars… LOL!

How did you come up with the name “Mental Ward Films”? The voices in my head told me it would be a good idea.

Are you working on another script? Actually working on several.  I got this really good horror film that has a good pop culture hook, and then a really good action adventure/thriller that requires an insane budget.  But my pride and joy is a little comedy called Southern Bound that I often refer to as my opus.

What is your script writing process? Step 1:  Write something brilliant.  Step 2: Come back the next day and determine it is crap.  Step 3: Repeat Step 1.

What is one piece of advice you would give someone who would like to be script writer?  Never surrender!

Favorite genre of film: Comedy
